Springfield, Ohio - The Oberlin College women's soccer team lost to the Wittenberg Tigers on the road Saturday afternoon. The 3-0 tilt set Oberlin back to 2-3-1 in the NCAC and 6-7-2 overall.
From the opening whistle, the Crimson and Gold settled in on defense, led by Aidan Grant in cage. Back-to-back saves by the Virginia native kept the Tigers off the board, but the third shot found the top of the cage for a Wittenberg lead.
The Yeowomen responded with a slew of shots, coming off the feet of Heather Benway and Jemma Freestone. Momentum shifting back on the side of the home team, Wittenberg extended their lead to two in the 37'.
Coming out of the half, Oberlin struggled to maintain the ball conceding a goal midway through the final period. The Crimson and Gold earned a corner kick in the final minute of action, but the squad was unable to convert the opportunity into a goal, and ultimately fell 3-0
Oberlin returns to the pitch for their match of the season next Saturday, November 2 when they welcome Kenyon at home. The final kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
