Volleyball Swept at Wittenberg

SPRINGFIELD, OH --The Oberlin College volleyball team fell to the Wittenberg Tigers in three sets (16-25, 23-25, 14-25) Sunday on the road at Pam Evans Smith Arena.

The loss dropped Oberlin's record to 4-12 overall and 1-2 in NCAC play.

Josie MacDonald finished with eight kills on the day to lead the Oberlin attack. Defensively, had two players reach double figures in digs as MacDonald had 12 and Julia Hall had 10.

» Jillian Jendsen had a team-high two aces and 12 assists in the loss
» Cami Sweet had five kills and Hall each finished with five kills
» Oberlin hit just .069 as a team with 25 kills against 18 errors
» Piper Ricketts led the Tigers with 11 kills as they hit .205 as a team.

How It Happened

SET 1 | Oberlin fell behind early, losing a tough first set 25-16. Oberlin trailed by as many as nine points as Wittenberg grabbed the advantage for good at 2-1 in a set that was tied up just once before the Tigers took control.

SET 2 | Oberlin fell in the second set 25-23, digging a 2-0 deficit in the match. Oberlin fell in a back-and-forth set, losing in a stanza that featured seven lead changes and was tied eight times. Neither team led by more than four points along the way.

SET 3 | Oberlin could not win the third set and was swept by Wittenberg. The Yeomen fell behind on the first point and never took the lead before losing the set 25-14.
