Women’s Soccer Blanked by OWU

Oberlin, Ohio - The Oberlin College women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to the Ohio Wesleyan University Battling Bishops on Sunday afternoon at Fred Shults Field.

The two foes went into the intermission with no score on the board but it didn't long for the Bishops to strike following the restart as Ava Bruns cashed her fourth goal of the season in the 49th minute.

OWU finished with a 14-12 edge shots but had more promising scoring chances, doubling up Oberlin with a 10-5 advantage in shots on goal. However, Oberlin triggered three corners compared to the visitor's two.

First-year Averi Williams put four of her five shot attempts on frame, while Sophia Timm-Blow had Oberlin's other shot on target. Unfortunately, Natalie Ryan was there to deny all five shots for the Bishops.

Ali Grant went all 90 minutes between the pipes and made nine saves in the loss to run her season account to 50.

The result dropped Oberlin back to 5-5-1 overall and 1-1-0 in NCAC play. OWU moved to 8-4-0 and 1-1-0 in league action.

Oberlin is back in action with a Wednesday matinee at the College of Wooster. The first touch is set for 4:30 p.m.
