Oberlin, Ohio - The Oberlin College men's soccer team won for the first time on its home pitch this season, outlasting the visiting Baldwin Wallace University Yellow Jackets 1-0 on Tuesday night at Fred Shults Field.
The win snapped a three-match winless streak for the Yeomen as they will head into North Coast Athletic Conference play with a record of 2-3-3.
How it Happened
After a scoreless first, Oberlin found the game's lone goal when Antony Commissaris scored his second goal of the season in the 50th minute, which was assisted by Carlos Febles-Flores. For the senior from Menlo Park, California, it marked his fourth career score to run his all-time points total 10. The helper from Febles-Flores was his first of the season and second of his career.
The Yeomen rearguard stood tall down the stretch to preserve the win, fending off a couple of promising opportunities for the Yellow Jackets as Max Yakym's shot attempt in the 76th minute hit the post and in the closing seconds Michael Tusick's attempt off a corner was denied by a diving Colvin Iorio to finish off the victory.
