TIFFIN, OH- The Oberlin College men's soccer team made the short trip west to take on Heidelberg on Saturday afternoon. The two defenses stood strong in the matching, holding each other off for a 0-0 draw. Oberlin moves to 1-3-3 on the season after the draw.
How it Happened
Oberlin's offense came ready to play, recording the first four shots of the match. The Crimson and Gold's first shot at cage came off the foot of Nasim Amer in the 12'. The shot to low, center was wrapped up quickly by the Heidelberg keeper, leading to a breakaway chance for the Student Princes. Luke Yates and the Oberlin back line stood tall against the home team's first drive downfield, making the save to hold the scoreless match.
The Crimson and Gold came out with a more balanced offensive strategy in the second half of the match, with a trio of shots coming off in the late seconds of the 58'. Without converting any chances on cage, the defense locked in to hold Heidelberg from any on-target shots for the majority of the half. While the defense came to impress, the offense was stiffled by the Heidelberg keeper as Oberlin settled for a scoreless draw.
The Crimson and Gold return to the field for a home match against Baldwin Wallace on a Tuesday, September 26 at 7 p.m.
