Granville, Ohio – The Oberlin College field hockey team opened up a five-game road trip, falling 2-0 at Denison University on Tuesday afternoon.
The Yeowomen struggled to generate much offensive movement, failing to attempt a single shot in the contest.
The Big Red wasted no time getting on the board, scoring less than 90 seconds into the game as Lila Smith finished off a feed from Cary Mauck. Denison would tack on just before the halftime intermission as Katherine Flanagan deposited a pass from Emma Gebhart, but the Yeowomen would blank them in the second half.
Janny McCormick went the distance between the pipes, making 11 saves to run her season total to 36 on the year.
Elly Scheer also aided the cause with a defensive save.
The Big Red put 14 of their 30 shots on goal and earned 17 penalty corners compared to Oberlin's none.
The loss dropped Oberlin to 0-5 (0-3 NCAC) while the Big Red moved to 4-2 (3-0 NCAC).
The busy week for Oberlin will continue on Saturday at Earlham College at noon.
