Men’s Lacrosse Tops Wittenberg & Punches Tournament Ticket

Springfield, Ohio - Four players scored multiple goals to lift the Oberlin College men's lacrosse team to an 18-10 win at Wittenberg University on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, Oberlin closed the regular season with a record of 8-7 and 4-4 in the NCAC. The Yeomen entered the game needing to win by at least six goals to secure a spot in the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament due to the league's tie-breaking policies and they did enough to make their second straight trip into the league's final four.

Senior Michael Muldoon led the offensive effort with a season-high eight points on a season-best five goals and three assists. Jacob Starcke and Niko Maheras each deposited four goals, while Ryan Blasberg netted three scores in the win.

Oberlin jumped all over Wittenberg from the onset, cashing in the first two goals of the game and ultimately led 6-2 after 15 minutes of action. After scoring the final three goals of the opening period, the Yeomen would post the first three tallies of the second quarter with Maheras bookending a Muldoon finish off a Max Cha feed.

Both teams would go on two score twice more in the second quarter with the Yeomen tallies coming courtesy of Blasberg and a Starcke man-up finish off a Blasberg pass that made it a 12-4 Oberlin avantage at the half.

Oberlin would go on to add five more third-quarter goals, carrying a 17-6 lead into the fourth quarter to leave no doubt in the eventual outcome.

JT Starcke led the way with seven ground balls, while Keirnan Stone added five.

Jake Pillsbury made 11 saves in all 60 minutes between the pipes.

The official NCAC Tournament bracket will be released later this evening.
