Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Yeomen Bested by #18 Denison

Oberlin, Ohio - The Oberlin College men's lacrosse team traveled south to take on nationally ranked Denison. The 18th-ranked Big Red cruised past the Yeomen for a 16-9 victory that improved them to 8-3 on the season. Oberlin falls back to 6-5 on the season and 2-2 in NCAC action.

Niko Maheras and Solomon Brennan were the only goal scorers for the Crimson and Gold, with Maheras leading the team with four. Michael Muldoon and Max Cha chipped in one assist each. Jake Pillsbury earned the start in cage, amassing an impressive 21 saves against the NCAC's top team. Having another impressive game on the defensive end, Kiernan Stone collected eight ground balls and forced five turnovers.

The Big Red controlled the first quarter, tallying four goals while holding the Yeomen scoreless. It wasn't until 11:15 in the second quarter that Cha found Maheras to get Oberlin on the board. Maheras scored again on the heels of a caused turnover by Stone to cut the lead to three. Denison responded with five-straight goals in the last two minutes of the half to hold a 10-2 lead.

After Michael Dinkel won the opening faceoff, Brennan got the scoring going before adding another at the 12:31 mark. Just after a pair of Big Red goals, Maheras capitalized on an Oberlin man-up opportunity. The Crimson and Gold momentum came to an end as Denison scored seven of the game's last eight goals. Maheras tallied the lone OC goal in the final quarter as the Yeomen fell to the Big Red 19-6.
