Men’s Lacrosse Downs the Dutch

Detroit, MI – The Oberlin College men's lacrosse team turned in a commanding 15-6 victory over the Hope College Flying Dutchmen Wednesday night on the campus of Detroit Mercy University.

Six different Yeomen found the back of the cage led by Ryan Blasberg's six-goal performance. Senior Max Cha also posted six points on two scores and four assists, while Solomon Brennan netted a hat trick with three goals.

The Yeomen scored the game's first three goals and led 4-1 after one period of action. Two tallies from Brennan and Cha within 45 seconds at the midway point of the second quarter increased the Oberlin cushion out to 6-2.

The Dutchmen would score the final goal of the first half and the first goal of the third quarter to trim the Oberlin lead down to two, 6-4, with just 1:13 melted from the second-half clock.

However, back-to-back Oberlin goals from Blasberg and Michael Muldoon quickly pushed the Yeomen advantage back out to four. Oberlin would cash in two more scores in the frame courtesy of Niko Maheras and Blasberg to carry 10-5 advantage into the final session.

Oberlin would dominate the fourth quarter, netting its first of five scores in the quarter less than 90 seconds in as Blasberg sent in a feed from Max Cha. Oberlin would get four more fourth-quarter goals from Muldoon, Blasberg, Cha, and Brennan to cap the game's scoring.

JT Starcke led the defense with seven ground balls, while Kiernan Stone added six in the loss. Freshman Jake Pillsbury was outstanding in goal as he made 17 saves.

The Yeomen had a 53-42 shot advantage and won the ground ball battle 44-34.

Oberlin is back in action on Saturday at 1 p.m. as they travel to southern Ohio for battle at Muskingum University.
