Men’s Basketball Rolls at Hiram

Hiram, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's basketball team turned in a commanding 93-71 road win at Hiram College on Saturday afternoon.

Senior Dorde Otasevic spearheaded the Yeomen effort with a season-high 26 points to go along with 10 rebounds to notch his 11th double-double of the year. Andrew Gannon added a career-high 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting, while Dimitrije Radusinovic also poured in 16 points in the win. Will Bousquette III chipped in 11 points in a team-high 33 minutes of work, while point guard Yuuki Okubo dished out 13 assists to accompany his eight points.

Oberlin raced out to a 21-10 advantage less than six minutes into the contest and the Yeomen lead would swell to 15, 33-18, on an old-fashioned 3-point play by Asaan Snipes-Rea at the 9:40 mark of the opening half. A Bousquette triple-hit with 95 ticks left in the frame ballooned the margin out to 20 at 52-32 but Hiram would score the final four points of the session to trail by 16 at the break.

Early in the second session the Yeomen would reclaim at a 20-plus point cushion as another layup from Snipes-Rea enlarged the Oberlin lead to 72-47 at the 13:01 mark. With the final outcome never in doubt, Oberlin was able to get some of its reserves into the game as Adam Navarre's layup with 2:28 to go made it 93-65 to cap off Yeomen's scoring in the game.

Oberlin shot a season-high 54 percent from the floor, cashing in 34 of the 63 shots it hoisted. The 93 points scored by the Yeomen marks their second highest total of the season, only trailing the 98 scored in the first meeting against the Terriers back on December 10 in a losing effort.

The Yeomen won the battle of the boards 36-23 and outscored Hiram 42-32 in the paint. Furthermore, Oberlin turned 13 Hiram turnovers into 24 points.

The win moved the Yeomen's record to 7-15 overall and 3-10 in the NCAC, while Hiram fell to 10-11 and 5-8 in league play.

The Yeomen are back in action next Saturday as they host DePauw University at 3 p.m.
