Men’s Basketball Drops Regular Season Finale at Wittenberg

Springfield, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's basketball team closed out the 2022-23 regular season, falling 72-63 at Wittenberg University on Saturday afternoon.

Four Yeomen finished in double figures, led by Dimitrije Radusinovic as he netted 14 points and 11 rebounds in the setback. Anastasis Spyroglou added 13 points, while first-year Adam Navarre made the most of his 12 minutes of work by scoring a career-high 11 points. Dorde Otasevic ripped down a game-high 13 rebounds to go along with seven points, while Asaan Snipes-Rea also corralled a career-best 11 boards.

The Tigers jumped on the Yeomen from the onset, eventually claiming a 10-point advantage at 23-13 with 8:10 left in the opening session. However, an 11-0 Yeomen response run that featured a pair of threes from Spyroglou and one more from Radusinovic put the Yeomen out in front 24-23 at the 6:08 mark.

After Wittenberg reclaimed the lead, a coast-to-coast finish from Snipes-Rea gave the visiting Yeomen a 28-27 edge and no more than two possessions would separate the two foes for the remainder of the half, but it was the Tigers who ultimately carried a 38-35 cushion into the intermission.

Wittenberg would extend its lead following the restart as a Josh Tolliver jumper pushed it to 50-40 less than seven minutes into the half. The margin would swell to as many as 14 but the Yeomen wouldn't go away without a fight – using yet another 11-0 burst that was highlighted by six points from Navarre to make it just a 62-59 Wittenberg lead with 5:01 left to play.

Unfortunately, the Yeomen would go cold down the stretch as they were limited to just four points for the remainder of the game as the Tigers pulled away for the victory.

Oberlin won the rebounding war 46-33 but shot just 31.7 percent (20-of-63) from the floor. The Tigers were much more efficient, connecting at a 45.9 percent (28-of-61) clip.

Oberlin concludes the regular season at 8-17 overall and 4-12 in the NCAC.

The Yeomen will take on the top-seeded Scots of Wooster in the opening round of the NCAC Tournament on Tuesday night.
