Oberlin, Ohio- In their final home game of the regular season, the Oberlin College men's basketball team snatched a victory over Kenyon on Wednesday night. The NCAC rivals battled with the Yeomen coming out on top of a 77-65 final. The Crimson and Gold improve to 7-16 overall and 4-11 in the conference ahead of their regular season finale.
Senior leader
Dorde Otasevic notched his 13
th double-double of the season with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Both
Will Bousquette III and
Dimitrije Radusinovic finished with 10+ points, scoring 16 and 15, respectively.
The Owls got the first points of the game but, 20 seconds later, Bousquette III responded with a jumper in the paint to even the score. The two teams went back-and-forth, driving for layups, until a three-pointer from Otasevic shifted the momentum in favor of the Yeomen.
Over the next five minutes, Oberlin scored 14 points while holding Kenyon to just four. The Yeomen shooters continued to roll, knocking down three consecutive three-pointers: one from Radusinovic and two from Bousquette III. OC held strong in the final seconds of play to take the game into halftime, up 42-35.
The second half moved at a slower pace with more than ten fouls called in the first six minutes. The Yeomen maintained both their composure and lead over Kenyon as the Crimson and Gold battled with the visitors for baskets. Trying to pick up the pace, Bousquette III knocked down a three-pointer at the 9:53 mark, leading to baskets in three-straight possessions.
The offensive efficiency continued as Otasevic scored from the paint to give Oberlin a 13-point advantage. Keeping the Kenyon at a distance, Radusinovic and
Anastasis Spyroglou combined for the final five points as the Oberlin held on for a 77-65 victory.
The Yeomen's victory was highlighted by a balanced offense and, for the first time this season, every player that took the court scored.
