Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Yeomen Fall Short at OWU

Delaware, Ohio - The Oberlin College men's basketball team dropped an 80-65 decision on the road at Ohio Wesleyan University on Wednesday night.

Three Yeomen finished in double figures led by Anastasis Spyroglou as he poured in 15 points on an efficient 6-of-9 shooting. Will Bousquette III added 11 points, while Dimitrije Radusinovic chipped in 10 points to accompany his eight rebounds. Dorde Otasevic, who leads the NCAC in rebounding at 9.7 per game, ripped down 12 boards and finished with six points.

The Bishops jumped out to an early 13-4 lead but an 8-2 Yeomen response that was capped off by Spyroglou triple-hit had the gap down to just three at 15-12 with 12:33 left in the opening half. The Yeomen were later trailing 22-16 but the Bishops created significant separation by authoring a 13-2 run to swell the score out 35-18 with 6:50 remaining on the first-half clock.

Oberlin wouldn't go away quietly and methodically chipped away at the deficit to get within striking distance at the intermission as they went into the locker room trailing 43-31.

A wing 3-pointer from Radusinovic had the Yeomen back within nine, 45-36, less than three minutes into the half but the Bishops would find a way to refute every Yeomen surge. After going down by as many as 18, the Yeomen kept fighting and would shrink the margin back to nine, 67-58, with 5:27 still to expire. Unfortunately, Jack Clement answered with a personal 5-0 spurt and the Bishops would lead by double-digits the rest of the way.

Clement, who came into the night as the conference's leading scorer at 22.7 points per game, finished with 29 points on 10-of-18 shooting. Overall, OWU was deadly from distance, dialing in on 13-of-28 triple-tries for a 46.8 percent success rate. Oberlin finished just 5-of-21 from distance for a 23.8 percent clip.

Despite never leading in the game, Oberlin outscored OWU 42-14 in the paint and saw its bench bunch outscore its counterparts 34-16.

The loss dropped Oberlin back to 6-15 overall and 2-10 in the NCAC, while OWU moved to 14-6 and 9-2 in league play.

The Yeomen are back in action on Saturday afternoon at Hiram College. Tip-time is set for 4 p.m.
