UNIVERSITY CIRCLE, OH - In a non-conference, mid-week matchup, the Oberlin College volleyball team took on Case Western, where they fell 3-0 (12-25, 17-25, 24-26). Although battling with one of the toughest opponents of the Yeowomen's schedule, the Crimson and Gold drop to 10-3 (1-1).
In one of their final matches before a long string of North Coast action, Oberlin opened the night with a kill from Zeynep Kaya. The Spartans responded quickly to take the lead and eventually the set. Oberlin's six errors and low hitting percentage caused an early downfall.
Case Western continued their dominance through the second set, winning the first two points and then running up the score to as much as eight points ahead of the Yeowomen. Oberlin had a short run of kills in the final minutes of action, but it was too little too late as the Spartan took the second set.
Third-set adjustments paid off for the Crimson and Gold in the third set, as Oberlin rallied to come back from a nine-point deficit to tie the score at 24-24. A kill by Natalie Dufour from the set of Taylor Gwynne gave the Yeowomen the equalizer. Case Western's veteran offense took flight in the final two points to claim the set and seal the 3-0 victory.

SET 1 | The Yeowomen fell behind early, losing a tough first set 25-12. Oberlin trailed by as many as 13 points as CWRU grabbed the advantage for good at 6-5 in a set that was tied up two times before the Spartans took control.
SET 2 | Oberlin then lost set two 25-17 to fall behind in the match two sets to none. The Yeowomen fell behind on the first point and never took the lead before dropping the set.
SET 3 | Oberlin was not able to win the third set and was swept by CWRU. The Yeowomen rallied from an eight-point deficit at 13-5, but CWRU hung on to win the set 26-24.
