Oberlin, OH --The Oberlin volleyball team took care of business in three sets (25-19, 25-21, 25-19) to take down the Denison Big Red Wednesday night at Philips Gymnasium.
The victory boosted the Yeomen's record to 12-4 overall and 3-2 in NCAC action.
Natalie Dufour finished with seven kills on the day to lead the Yeowomen attack while finishing with a hitting percentage of .417.Julia Hall and Cami Sweet also aided the offense with five kills apiece.
Taylor Gwynne matched a career-best with six aces to go along with 25 assists, while Iris Archibald led the back row with 12 digs.
How It Happened
SET 1 | The Yeowomen took control of the set one lead at 10-5 and held the lead the rest of the way to win by six points. Oberlin led by as many as eight points at 23-15 before closing out the set. Oberlin also supplemented their offense with five aces in the opening set.
SET 2 | After their win in the first set, Oberlin put themselves on the cusp of a sweep with a 25-21 victory in set number two. Gwynne opened the session with five straight aces and never looked back to secure the victory. Oberlin opened up as much as a five point lead at 24-19 before closing out the set.
SET 3 | Oberlin closed the match in a 3-0 sweep after winning the third set. The Yeowomen started with a 3-0 en route to secure a 25-19 victory. Oberlin opened up as much as a 10 point lead at 19-9 before closing out the set. The Oberlin offense also got a boost from four aces in the stanza.
