Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Shutout by DePauw

OBERLIN, OH - Taking on conference rival DePauw, the Oberlin College men's soccer team fell 3-0 to the Tigers on Saturday afternoon. After losing the home field battle, Oberlin drops to 2-6-5 overall and 0-2-2 in NCAC play.

How it Happened

It didn't take long for the visitors to leave their mark, notching the first goal of the game at the 14:36 mark. Down 1-0, Oberlin struggled to settle the ball on offense, only recording their first shot from Nathan Thompson in the 29'.

The woes for the Crimson and Gold continued into the second half after conceding back-to-back shots in the opening minutes. The Tigers dominated the ball through the match, adding to their goal count in the 70' and 74' with well-placed shots on cage. Heading into the final ten minutes of the match with a three-goal deficit, Oberlin's Leo Pelizzari-Astle took the Yeomen's best shot of the game. A good look at cage ultimately fell short, as the ball rolled into the hands of the DePauw keeper and Oberlin remained scoreless. Last-minute shots by Pellizari-Astle and Enrique Porras Jr. also came up empty as the Yeomen dropped the conference match 3-0 to the Tigers.

Oberlin returns to the pitch for an away test at Hiram. The Yeomen take on the Terriers on Wednesday, October 21 at 7 p.m.

Game Notes

  • Colvin Iorio collected nine saves for the Yeomen out of 12 total Tigers shots.
  • Oberlin registered just three shots on goal, led by Pellizari-Astle with two.
