Field Hockey Falls at Wooster

Wooster, Ohio – The Oberlin College field hockey team closed out the road portion of its schedule, falling 8-0 on Saturday at the College of Wooster.

The Yeowomen struggled to generate much offensive movement, failing to attempt a single shot in the contest.

The Scots' Maddie Peck opened the scoring late in the first quarter, finishing off a Ciara O'Connor assist. Wooster would tack on three more scores before the halftime intermission as Lizzie Hardy scored twice before Peck added another tally in the second quarter.

Wooster would score four more fourth-quarter goals to finish off the victory.

Janny McCormick played the first three quarters between the pipes, making seven saves to run her season total to 83 on the year. First-year Lelia Burki added two stops in the fourth quarter. Elly Scheer also aided the cause with her seventh defensive save of the season while first-year Meaghan Kramer also notched her fourth defensive save of the year in the second half.

The Scots put 19 of their 27 shots on goal and earned 15 penalty corners compared to Oberlin's none.

The loss dropped Oberlin to 1-10 overall and 1-6 in the NCAC while the Scots moved to 7-3 and 4-3 in league action.

Oberlin will close out the season with a three-game homestand starting on Wednesday afternoon as the Wittenberg Tigers come to town for a 4 p.m. matinee.
