WOOSTER, OH - Behind incredible performances from Taylor Gwynne and Andréa Jones, the Oberlin College volleyball team displayed impressive resilience in a 3-2 (24-26, 25-15, 25-27, 28-26, 15-8) win over the Wooster Fighting Scots on Wednesday night. The North Coast victory improved Oberlin's record to 11-4 overall and 2-2 in conference action.
The Crimson and Gold offense was paced by Jones, who finished with 21 kills on the day, the second-most in a single game in her career. Junior Cami Sweet added 15 more, while Lauren Sands and Are'Anna Gill chipped in with 12 each. Pulling the attack together, Gwynne handed out a career-high 60 assists in the match. She now holds the record for second-most assists in a single match in program history, just behind Meredith Leung who tallied 65 in 2015.
Newcomer Iris Archibald also pitched into the high-powered offense with five aces in the contest. Defensively, Oberlin had three players reach double figures in digs, Archibald's team-high 26, Zeynep Kaya pulled out 15, with another ten coming from Jillian Jendsen.
Oberlin gets back on the court for their next NCAC match against Denison in Philips Gymnasium next Wednesday, October 18, at 7p.m.

SET 4 | Oberlin then responded to secure the fourth set 28-26 to force a fifth set. The Yeowomen survived a back-and-forth set to win in a stanza that featured four lead changes and was tied nine times. Neither team was able to grab a lead larger than four points along the way. The Yeowomen win came in a stanza where 22 of their 28 points came via the kill.
SET 5 | Down two sets to one, Oberlin fought back to win the final two sets, culminating in a 15-8 fifth-set victory, to take the match 3-2. The Yeowomen took a 1-0 lead and never looked back in the fifth set to secure the victory. Oberlin opened up as much as a seven point lead at 14-7 before finishing off the set, totaling 10 kills in the process.
