Olivet, Michigan- The Oberlin College women's soccer team travelled north to take on the Olivet comets on Wednesday afternoon. The Yeowomen battled for a 2-1 victory to improve their overall record to 5-2-0.
Â
Oberlin got off to quick start in the opening minute, as
Zoe Garver took back-to-back shots on goal. It only took the Yeowomen another seven minutes before they earned their first score. After
Adrienne Sato sent in a shot, the block ricocheted the ball to the foot of
Samantha Gilfond who launched it into the back of the net. The Crimson and Gold held off the Comets until late in the first half off a ball sent in from 20 yards out.
Â
Tied headed into the second half, Oberlin continued to dominate possession and in the 72',
Mattie Rie connected with
Camille Franklin for her first goal of the season. The score gave Oberlin the security they needed to close out the match and secure their fifth victory of the season.
