Steubenville, Ohio- Looking to get back to their winning ways the Oberlin College women's soccer team traveled to Steubenville to take on Franciscan on Saturday afternoon. Successful in their endeavors, the Yeowomen took down the Barons 3-2 to improve to 4-2-0 on the year.
Getting Oberlin off to a hot start,
Adrienne Sato tallied the Yeowomen's first goal just eight minutes into the match. The offense kept the ball rolling as
Maya Blevins connected with
Elena Foley who sent the ball straight through the middle of the net to move up 2-0 on the home team.
The Barons responded in the second half to cut into Oberlin's lead but goal would be short lived as
Samantha Gilfond took back the two-goal advantage with a shot to the center of the net in the 77'. The Barons got one more goal in the waiting seconds of the game for a final score of 3-2.
Earning the start in cage, Benji made five saves to secure their fourth victory this season.
The Crimson and Gold stay on the road for their next match as they head north to take on Oliver on Wednesday, September 21. Kickoff is set for 4pm.
