Geneva, OH – ON the first day of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championship,
Clare Tiedemann tallied a plethora of career-bests to sit in 16
th with 2,741 points in the women's heptathlon.
The senior's first PR of the day came from the 100m Hurdles event where she ran a 14.59 to finish in 7
th. A strong start to the day, Tiedemann continued the momentum in her two most difficult events, the high jump and shot put. Clearing a height of 1.46m and throwing for 8.22m, Tiedemann surpassed both of her previous bests. In the day's final event, the 200m dash, the New York native ran an impressive 25.37 in the final heat. The .50 improvement earned Tiedemann second in the event and 16
th overall.
Notably, Tiedemann is competing against conference rival Erin Pasch (DePauw) whom she outran in both the 100m hurdles and 200m dash events today.
The NCAC Champion continues her run at a national title tomorrow, May 27, finishing the final three events of the heptathlon. Starting with the long jump at 11am, Tiedemann will finish out with the javelin throw and the 800m dash.
