5/19/2022 9:07:00 PM

Alliance, OH – Select members of the Oberlin College track and field team competed on Thursday at the Mount Union Last Chance meet ahead of next weekend's NCAA Championships.

Indoor All-American Iyanna Lewis is on the bubble to return to the national meet as she won the hammer throw with a personal-best heave of 170-02 (51.87m), which currently ranks 21st in the nation as she will await her fate come the NCAA's announcement.

Abby Cannon turned in a massive PR in the discus, finishing fourth in the event with a toss 134-08 (41.05m), topping her previous personal-best by nearly seven feet.

Malaïka Djungu-Sungu won the triple jump with a clearance of 39-03.75 (11.98m) but it is off her mark from early this year that ranks 10th in the nation of 39-06.05 (12.05m), which will secure her spot in the national meet.

In the long jump, Clare Tiedemann was slightly behind her school-record standard as she posted a mark of 18-02.25 (5.54m) to place third in the meet as she remains outside of the nationals picture in that event. However, she remains on the bubble for the heptathlon at 22nd in the nation at the moment.

Sarah Voit, who is ranked eighth in the country in the pole vault and was second in the nation indoors, did not improve upon her season-best mark as she was second at the meet with a clearance of 11-10.50 (3.62m), but will look to add another All-American honor next week at nationals.

Freshman Cole Fuller was slightly off his season-best time in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking in at 55.56.

Zack Lee turned in a person-best effort in the long jump with a mark of 22-04.50 (6.82m) to place second overall in the meet and was third in the triple jump at 44-08.25 (13.62m).

These athletes will now wait to see who gets the call to go to nationals next week at the SPIRE Institute in nearby Geneva, Ohio.
