Third Quarter Push Gives Oberlin Lacrosse Historic Win

Sewanee, TN- After going into halftime tied at six, the Oberlin men's lacrosse team dominated the third quarter doubling their score and outrunning the Sewanee Tigers 15-10. With the victory, the Yeomen extend their win streak to seven on an overall record of 8-1 and 2-0 in the NCAC. The win streak is the longest in over 62 years dating back to the Yeomen's 10-0 season in 1960.
 
Junior attackman, Ryan Blasberg led the offensive drive with a career-high five goals on the day. The Atlanta native was aided by Michael Muldoon with four goals and Max Cha with a hat trick and a pair of assists. Eugene Kang backed the defense for Oberlin with 16 saves.
 
Home team Sewanee came got on the board early before Blasberg got the Crimson and Gold started capitalizing on an extra-man opportunity. A quick response from the Tigers flipped the lead but Sam Ryu found the equalizer for Oberlin in the final minutes of action. The Tigers opened the second quarter with a string of goals, forcing the Yeomen to battle from behind. None other than Blasberg got put the game back at even with just seven seconds remaining in the half.
 
Tied at 6-6 to start the second half, the Yeomen picked up where they left off with four-straight goals coming off the sticks of Blasberg and Muldoon. The Tigers finally managed to end the drought but could not stop the Yeomen as they put another two scores away before the end of the quarter. The Oberlin squad continued their offensive rampage into the final quarter of action and tallied another three goals for a final score of 15-10.
 
This Saturday the Yeomen will get into the thick of their conference schedule as they play host to Wabash. The Yeomen and Little Giants face off at 1pm with live stream available here and live stats available here.
