Oberlin Lacrosse Dominates Hiram in High Scoring Affair

Hiram, OH- The Oberlin men's lacrosse team played nearly their entire roster in their game against Hiram on Saturday afternoon. With 13 different players scoring goals, and six of them scoring hat tricks, the Yeomen defeated Hiram 26-8 to move to 7-1 on the season and 2-0 in conference action.

Leander Herman, Colton Hayes, Max Cha, Sam Ryu, Niko Maheras, and Tom Decker all earned hat tricks in the game with Cha and Matt Rudella adding another four assists each. The balance offense tallied 26 goals to score the most goals in a game since the team played La Roche in 2018. Minding net for the Crimson and Gold were a trio of goalies in Eugene Kang, Justin Bader, and Joe Barocas. The keepers combined for nine saves. Faceoff specialist Connor Quinn also had a ground breaking afternoon after going 21-23 on the faceoff and scooping up a team-high 11 ground balls.

Oberlin came out of the gates with four-straight goals before Hiram slowed the momentum with a score of their own. The Yeomen attack kept coming as Decker scored a pair of goals in the ensuing 6-0 run. Headed into the scored period, the Terriers earned the first goal before Cha and Ryu added to the Yeomen's lead. The Yeomen closed out the half with another five unanswered goals led by Ryu with two.

Starting the second half how they finished it, Oberlin 5-0 run extended the lead to 21 as Hayes completed his hat trick. Hiram scored again at the end of the quarter but with just enough time left on the clock for Oberlin's Hal Nathan to respond. The fourth quarter played in favor of the Terriers as they outscored the Yeomen 4-3. Christian Pfennig, John McDonnell, and Herman added to Oberlin's final tally of 26-8.

The Yeomen will look to keep the win streak alive as they travel south for a non-conference matchup on Tuesday, April 5. Taking on Sewanee, the Yeomen will get underway at 5pm with live stream available here and live stats available here.
