Westlake, Ohio – Fresh off a historic season that featured a school-record tying 21 wins, three members of the Oberlin College women's basketball team were honored by the North Coast Athletic Conference for their season-long performances.
First-year
Camille Zinaich headlined the trio by being named as the NCAC Newcomer of the Year in addition to earning first-team laurels. Sophomore guard
Gina Lombard joined Zinaich on the first-team, while rookie
Bryana Woodard was named to the second-team.
A native of Boonsboro, Maryland, Zinaich was simply sensational throughout the season, averaging 11.6 points and a conference-best 9.8 rebounds per contest. A jack-of-all-trades, Zinaich was second in the league with 4.2 assists per contest and trailed only Woodard in field goal percentage at 52.2 percent. Her 42 steals were also a team-best.
The 5-foot-10 point-forward produced seven double-doubles and was one of three players nationwide to have two triple-doubles this season. Zinaich had 14 games with double-digit rebounds, 12 games with double-figure points, and 11 contests with five or more assists.
Zinaich was the first Oberlin player to earn NCAC Newcomer of the Year since Christina Marquette received the praise during the 2011-12 season.
Lombard started all 25 games in the Oberlin backcourt, averaging a team-high and ranking fifth in the NCAC at 35.2 minutes per game. The sharp-shooter was second in the NCAC with an average 2.6 made 3-pointers while her 66 total triple-hits were also good for second in the league.
Lombard made her presence felt from game one, scoring a season-high 29 points and finished the year with 17 double-figure scoring games. The Newton, Massachusetts, native was second on the team in scoring at 12.2 points per game and had 12 games where she made three or more 3-pointers.
Woodard was a dominate force in the paint, averaging a conference-best field goal percentage of 53.5 percent while leading the Yeowomen and finishing third in the league with 14.9 points to accompany her 5.7 rebounds per contest.
The Cincinnati, Ohio, native scored in double figures in 22 of 25 games and produced three double-doubles on the season. The 6-foot forward's impact was felt on the defensive end as well as she was second on the squad with 39 steals while tying for second in the NCAC with 1.5 blocks per game.
Oberlin finished the regular season, tying a school-best conference mark of 13-3 and entered the NCAC Tournament as the second seed before falling the semifinals. However, all three award winners are slated to return next year.
