Cleveland, OH – In their final meet before the NCAC Championships, the Oberlin College Track and Field teams travelled to Case Western Reserve for the Eddie Finningan Greater Cleveland College Meet.
Kicking it off in the field was
Aislinn Cannistraro with a second-place finish in the high jump event, leaping 1.55m. Following that up was
Heather Benway with a silver finish of her own in the long jump with a career high jump of 4.84m. Breaking another personal record for the Yeowomen was
Nina Hoyt jumping 9.52m in the triple jump.
On the men's side of the field,
Luke Yates finished second in the high jump, clearing 1.65m. Notching the first gold finish for Oberlin,
Zack Lee set a new personal record with a length of 6.81m. In the men's pole vault event,
Carter LaPointe cleared 3.80m to earn a second-place finish.
Isaiah Schuham-Anders rounded out the impressive showing by the Yeomen with a throw of 14.73m in the weight throw event. The new personal-best earned Schuham-Anders second place in the event.
Moving to the track events,
Jerry Achtermann got Oberlin started with a first-place, 16:07.13 finish in the 5000m run. The race broke Achtermann's previous best by nearly 30 seconds.
Olivia Gregory continued the record-breaking trend with a 1:39.16 run in the 500m run that earned her third place. In the 800m race,
Margo Lee finished in second place just before
Kambinachi Obioha and
Ezra Taub finished 2-3 in the men's counterpart race.
Ellis Santangelo and
Eliza Medearis finished in second and fourth places in the 3000m run with times of 11:36.11 and 11:43.04, respectively.
The Yeowomen finished the meet third in a field of five with 72 points, while the Yeomen finished third in a field of four with 68 points.
The Crimson and Gold have a quick turnaround as they take the track again on Saturday, February 19 for Day One of the NCAC Combined Events Championships.
