Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Otasevic Records Fifth Double-Double as Oberlin Stumbles in Conference Matchup

Oberlin, Ohio – In their first North Coast Athletic Conference game at home, the Oberlin College men's basketball team fell to the Denison Big Red in a 56-41 battle. Dorde Otasevic notched his fifth double-double of the season as he led the Yeomen with an impressive stat line of 11 points, ten rebounds, four assists, and three steals. The Crimson and Gold move to 0-2 in NCAC action and 3-6 on the season.

The evening's MVP, Otasevic, got the Yeomen on the board first with a shot behind the arc before Yuuki Okubo got in on the action from a pass from Otasevic. For the next ten minutes the offense seemed to sputter after the Big Red put up 18 unanswered points. Revived from an Otasevic three, the Yeomen responded with an 11-2 run as time expired for a halftime score of 28-20, Yeomen down. Despite only scoring 20 points of their own, this is the fourth time this season the Yeomen defense has held their opponents to less than 30 points in the opening half.

Denison came out with vengeance in the second half, putting up 12 straight points before Asaan Snipes-Rea could get Oberlin on the board. Down 40-22, the Yeomen slowly crept their way back behind a Will Bousquette III three-pointer to come within eight of the lead. As the final seconds of the night ticked away, the Yeomen looked to complete their comeback, but ultimately came up short as the Big Red slipped past the Yeomen 56-41.

The Yeomen stay at home for their next three matches, starting with Hiram this Saturday, December 10. Tip off is set for 2pm with a live stream available here and live stats here.
