Six Yeomen Earn Academic All-District Honors

Oberlin, Ohio – Six members of the Oberlin College football team were named Academic All-District® by the College Sports Communicators (formerly College Sports Information Directors of America / COSIDA), the organization announced on Tuesday.
 
The Oberlin honorees included Evan Smith-Rooks, Brandon Hall, Brent Larson, Josh Woznicki, Gavi Genger, and Ty Weatherspoon
 
To be eligible for the award, one must be at least a sophomore academically, participate in a minimum of 50 percent of the team's games, and hold a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50.

An environmental studies major from Atlanta, Georgia, Smith-Rooks appeared in nine games on special teams and at quarterback. Under center, the 6-foot-4 sophomore threw for 339 yards and two touchdowns. 

Hall was a key piece on the Yeomen defense throughout the season, finishing second on the team with 86 tackles, which included a team-high eight tackles-for-loss. A sophomore economics major from South Riding, Virginia, Hall added two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery to his 2022 account.  

A sophomore from Loveland, Colorado, Larson was a mainstay on the Oberlin offensive line this past fall as he played in all 10 games while majoring in economics. 

A physics major from Lambertville, NJ, Woznicki appeared in nine games, catching five passes for 35 yards while adding seven tackles on special teams. 

Genger made his presence felt across the Oberlin defense line, recording 25 tackles over 10 games. A sophomore economics major from New Canaan, Connecticut, Genger was second on the team with seven tackles-for-loss. 

In eight games played, Weatherspoon produced 354 yards and three touchdowns on 24 catches this past fall. A sophomore biology major from Amherst, Ohio, Weatherspoon led the team with an average of 14.7 yards per reception. 

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on December 20.
