Kalamazoo, Michigan- After a loss at the buzzer earlier in the week, the Oberlin College men's basketball team turned things around for a complete win at Kalamazoo on Saturday afternoon. Taking the game 73-67, the Yeomen move to 2-3 on the year.
Â
Dorde Otasevic led the Crimson and Gold's effort for the second-straight game as he notched his second double-double of the year. With 17 points and 11 rebounds, Otasevic added three assists while going 2-5 from behind the arch.
Â
The Yeomen got off to a hot, 8-0 start led by back-to-back three pointers fromÂ
Will Bousquette III. The Hornets slowly crept their way back into the game, but never came within four points of the Crimson and Gold's lead. Oberlin finished the half shooting 44% from the field and out-rebounding Kalamazoo 16-14.
Â
Ahead 32-27 to start the second half, the Yeomen extended their lead right away after
Yuuki Okubo drove for a quick layup.
Cole Otley and Bousquette made a pair of threes midway through the half before the Hornets began mounting their comeback. A handful of jumpers later, the two teams found themselves tied at 49-49.
Â
That was the closest Kalamazoo ever came to a lead as Bousquette put Oberlin back in the lead after going 2-2 at the charity stripe. The duo of
Dimitrije Radusinovic and Otasevic continued the Yeomen's climb, combining for three shots from behind the arch over the next two minutes.
Â
Oberlin continued to run away with the game in the waning minutes for a final score of 73-67.
