Oberlin Falls Hard Against Wooster

Oberlin, Ohio- In their final conference match, Oberlin came up short against Wooster on Wednesday night. The Yeowomen opened the third set strong, but the comeback would fall short as Oberlin fell 3-0 (19-25, 11-25, 25-22). The stumble sets Oberlin back to 0-7 in the conference and 7-14 overall.

The Crimson and Gold attack was led by Iyanna Lewis who recorded eight kills to go along with five digs and a block assist in the match. Sets were shared between Taylor Gwynne (18), Jillian Jendsend (2) and Zoe Kuzbari (1), while the trio combined for 21 of the team's 39 digs. On the defense, Natalie Dufour recorded a team-high two block assist while Cami Sweet, Andréa Jones, Gwynne, and Lewis each chipped in a block assist as well.

Oberlin looked strong in the opening set but fighting from behind the whole set the Yeowomen were unable to rally for the first point. The Fighting Scots' momentum continued into the ensuing set as they hit .393 and put away 14 kills as the Crimson and Gold suffered the second set loss in 25-11 fashion.

Down 2-0, the Yeowomen looked to rally, after a kill from Josie Macdonald put Oberlin up 4-1 over Wooster. The Obies swapped short runs with their NCAC foe but the experienced team of Wooster overcame the Yeowomen's lead, slipping past OC for a 25-22 victory.

The Yeowomen return to the court for their final match of the season this Friday, October 28 against Alma. The team will celebrate their four seniors beginning at 4:45pm with the match starting at 5pm. A live stream available here and live stats here.
