Greencastle, IN – The Oberlin College men's soccer team conceded two second-half goals to settle for a 2-2 draw at DePauw University on Saturday afternoon.
The Yeomen were protecting a 2-0 cushion for nearly 75 minutes but the Tigers wouldn't go down without a fight as they clawed back with two goals down the stretch.
Oberlin got on the board first as
Xander Francoeur cashed in his team-leading eighth goal of the year in the ninth minute and the Yeomen would ultimately carry 2-0 cushion into the intermission as
Zach Moskowitz finished off corner kick service from
Nasim Amer in the 29th minute.
The Tigers increased their work rate in the final 45-minute session, firing off 10 of their 15 shots and eventually breaking through in the 75
th minute on Ben Widener's goal before getting the equalizer eight minutes later from Nick Pease.
Oberlin triggered just three second-half shots with
Toby Wells-Zimmerman putting the lone attempt on frame in the 88
th minute.
Colvin Iorio made five saves this to run his season account to 62.
The result put the Yeomen's record at 5-7-2 and 1-4-2 in the NCAC, while the Tigers went to 5-6-5 and 0-4-2 in league play.
Oberlin will closeout the 2022 campaign on Wednesday afternoon at The College of Wooster. The first touch is set for 4 p.m.
