Delaware, OH – After an extended break from competition, the Oberlin College swim and dive teams hit the road for the annual Ohio Wesleyan Triangular Meet. Facing both OWU and Malone on the men's and women's side, the Yeomen and Yeowomen dominated each. The Yeomen took down OWU 130-85 and Malone 130-68, while the Yeowomen beat OWU 152-81 and Malone 173-52.
The Oberlin women's 200-yard Medley Relay Team A set the pace for the meet with a commanding first place finish in the first event. The men's team followed that up with a close second place finish, before the Yeowomen went second and third in the 1650 freestyle. Earning the first individual win for Oberlin was
Hannah Hale with a 2:03.86 time in the 200-yard freestyle race.
Isaac Viviano and
Dylan Bechtold kept the wins coming in the 200-yard freestyle with first and second place finishes, respectively.
Oberlin placed 1-4 in the 50-yard freestyle, led by
Ellie Frost with a 25.67 followed by
Ava Peyton,
Anika Kennedy, and
Lily Azaran. On the men's side of the 50-yard free,
Erik Fendorf finished in 22.83 to earn another first place finish for the Yeomen.
Myles Felt and
Jonathan Hupfeld followed that up with a 1-2 finish in the 400-yard IM before the meet wen into the dive break.
Diving for the Yeowomen in the 1-meter even was
Sophie Schnake who finished in first with a score of 155.85.
Jesse Pearlman made his collegiate debut in the men's 1-meter dive who finished in first with a score of 132.50.
Lucas Draper also competed for the Yeomen, finishing second with a score of 122.95. Later in the meet Schanke and Draper competed in the 3-meter dive, both coming in first place with score of 175.40 and 130.45, respectively.
Back from the break, Felts took gold again for Oberlin, this time in the 100-yard butterfly event, before Hale took first in the same even for the Yeowomen. Fendorf and Viviano then went first and second in the following event, the 100-yard freestyle race. Nearing the end of the meet now, Bechtold swam a first-place time of 5:10.48 in the 500-yard freestyle. Capping off a successful meet for the team, Oberlin Team A dominated the 400-yard relay with a team composed of Hale,
Bella Sites,
Isabel Pfaff, and Frost bringing up the rear.
The swimming and diving teams break for two weeks before returning home to host Hiram College. Starting at 6pm, the meet with be live streamed available
