Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Yeomen Fall at Division II Lake Erie

Painesville, OH – The Oberlin College men's basketball team put forth a strong effort against Division II Lake Erie College but in the end, it wasn't enough as the Storm upended the Yeomen 79-67 on Tuesday night.

Three Yeomen starters finished in double figures led by Dorde Otasevic's 15 points on an efficient 5-of-9 shooting to accompany his game-high eight rebounds. Senior Wolf Moser cashed in three triples en route to netting 14 points while Dimitrije Radusinovic added 13 points in the loss. Asaan Snipes-Rea also turned in a solid all-around game with nine points, five assists, and five rebounds.

The Yeomen trailed 20-12 eight minutes into the contest but answered back with a 13-5 response run to tie the game at 25-25 on a Marcus von Recklinghausen layup at the 5:15 mark of the opening stanza. Unfortunately, the Storm would rebuttal by scoring the next nine points, closing the session on a 12-4 burst to carry a 37-29 cushion into the intermission.

The Storm quickly increased their advantage out to 11 early after the restart and were able to keep the Yeomen at an arm's length for the bulk of the second half. The Lake Erie lead would swell to as many as 15, 61-46, at the halfway point of the frame but Oberlin wouldn't go down without a fight, trimming the deficit down to seven, 68-61, on a Otasevic layup with 5:51 left to expire. However, a dagger 3-point from Connor Wright just 50 seconds later pushed the margin back out to double digits and the Yeomen would get no closer the rest of the way.

Oberlin shot 46.6 percent (27-of-58) from the floor, while the Storm ended at 46 percent even with 29 makes on 43 shots. Lake Erie won the battle of the boards, 37-26, which included a 10-4 advantage on the offensive end as they finished with a 17-0 advantage in second chance points.

The Yeomen (5-8) are back in action on Thursday night as they return to North Coast Athletic Conference play with a home clash against Ohio Wesleyan University at 7 p.m.
