Delaware, OH – The Oberlin College field hockey team suffered a 5-0 setback at Ohio Wesleyan University on Wednesday night.
The Yeowomen struggled to generate much offensive movement, triggering just two shots on the night which both came in the second quarter courtesy of Oliva Jaffee and
Vanessa Baker.
The Bishops put 16 of their 38 attempts on frame.
Mary Post worked the first three periods in the cage and made seven saves before giving way to
Julia Vincent in the fourth quarter.
Lea Watkins-Chow, who entered the night with 11 career defensive saves, added three more to her ledger in the loss.
Jackie Oh also aided in the cause with a personal defensive denial.
The Bishops led just 1-0 at the half as Astrid Koek finished off a penalty corner entry from Gabi Dahllof in the first quarter. However, OWU would break the game open with three goals in the third before adding on one more in the fourth.
OWU, which had an 18-2 advantage in corners, moved to 1-1 on the year while Oberlin dropped back to 0-2.
The Yeowomen will take to the Bailey Field turf for the first time this season when they tangle with Sweet Briar University on Saturday at 11 a.m.
