Yeomen Soccer Concede Home Loss Against Capital

Oberlin, OH- Finally making their way back to Ohio, the Oberlin men's soccer team hosted Capital in their home opener on Tuesday evening. The Yeomen fell to the Crusaders 5-0 to move to 2-1 on the year, while the Crusaders advance to 3-0.

Oberlin got off to a hot start in the opening minutes of play, led by Nic Jandeleit who launched a pair of shots just high and wide of the goal. The Yeomen held off the Crusaders until th e 21' when Jarrett Pucket sent a shot from the top of the box into the lower left side of the net. The Yeomen looked to respond immediately as senior Alex Caceres made his way into the Crusader's box, ultimately sending a shot just wide of the cage. Capital struck again minutes later, sneaking the ball past the defense and tapping it past the goal line to go up 2-0 on the Yeomen. Oberlin battled back to find any kind of answer to the Crusader's onslaught, but a deflection off a corner kick sent the ball past Parker Whitcomb and the Oberlin backline, for another Capital goal. Down a trio of goals, the Yeomen were unable to control the attack and conceded another score to the Crusaders before half. Oberlin took to the sidelines, down 4-0 to Capital.

Looking to climb their way back into the game, the Yeomen came out in the second half trying to slow the momentum of the Crusaders. A pair of back-to-back saves by Whitcomb on the doorstep of the cage kept the Capital at bay, but it wasn't enough to stop the Crusaders from scoring again. Unable to find any answer for the barrage, the Yeomen dropped the match 5-0 to the Crusaders.

The Yeomen play again on Friday, September 11 as they hit the road towards Kentucky to take on Spalding. Kickoff is set for 7:30pm with live stream available here and live stats available here.
