Huntingdon, PA - The Oberlin College women's soccer team was dealt its first setback of the season, dropping a 1-0 decision at Juniata College on Sunday afternoon.
The Yeowomen, who scored nine goals over their first two contests, were unable to find the back of the net in this one despite a plethora of chances. The Yeowomen put five of their six shots on goal but Cati Besch stood tall throughout the 90-minute affair and turned away each of Oberlin's attempts.
The Yeowomen continued to pressure Juniata's rearguard, earning eight corner kicks but the Eagles' backline rebuffed each opportunity in the clean-sheet victory.
The lone tally in the fixture came at the 4:55 mark of the opening stanza as Alyssa Bui finished off a feed from Ashley McWilliams and the Eagles would protect that cushion for the next 85 minutes. It was the first goal Oberlin senior keeper
Isabelle Smith has conceded so far this season.
Madeline Lynam led the Yeowomen with two shots, both of which were on target.
Grace Burns,
Jocelyn Wong, and
Brynn Adams also put balls on frame that were denied by Besch.
The loss dropped the Yeowomen to 2-1 on the year while the Eagles moved to 1-1.
Oberlin will continue its season-opening five-game road trip on Wednesday night at crosstown Ohio Athletic Conference foe, Baldwin Wallace. The first touch is set for 7 p.m.
