Erie, PA- The Oberlin volleyball team took on both University of Pittsburgh- Greensburg and Penn State- Behrend in a tri-match on Saturday afternoon. The Crimson and Gold squad split the day as they took down UP-G 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-15) and dropped their match to PSU-B 3-1 (25-20, 24-26, 25-20, 25-17). The Yeowomen move to 8-5 ahead of returning to conference action with their 1-0 record.

Oberlin earned the first two points of the match off a pair of errors from the Bobcats. Andréa Jones and
Cami Sweet got the first two kills for the Yeowomen, both assisted by sophomore standout
Taylor Gwynne. As the first set was highlighted by 14-3 run that including a pair of aces from
Myriahlea DeHaro and two kills from
Natasha Radic.

After winning set one 25-16, Jones led Oberlin in the second set as she accounted for the first two kills. Followed by
Kiki Widran and Sweet, the Yeowomen made their way ahead of Pittsburg-Greensburg to win the second in 25-18 fashion. Widran had three kills in the victory. Oberlin made a clean sweep of the Bobcats as they won the third set by a score of 25-15. Jones had four kills in the set, trailed by
Lucy Myers with three.
At the start of their second match of the day, the Yeowomen got behind early and struggled to keep up with the Lions. Although Radic tallied three kills and an ace, Oberlin was not able to get back in the match and lost set one 25-20. Just like the first set, the Yeowomen struggled early in the second set but three kills from Jones in a span of seven points gave Oberlin what they needed to get ahead at 15-14. The match stayed tight the rest of the way and finished in extra-points as Radic and Gwynne earned kills to get the 26-24 victory. The Yeowomen maintained their momentum into the third set as Sweet and Jones combined for four-straight kills in the early goings. Climbing their way back into the match, the Lions tied the score and did not stop there. A 6-2 run put Penn State- Behrend ahead of Oberlin and eventually led to their victory.

Down 2-1 to the Lions, the Yeowomen came out strong led by Jones with three kills. After a slew of errors, PSU-B was able to tie the match at 6-6. It was point for point until midway through the set when the Lions went on a pair of short runs to regain the lead. The Yeowomen battled to stay in the match yet were overcome by a score of 25-17 in the fourth set.

Jones led the attack for the Yeowomen with a combined 25 kills over the course of both games, followed by Radic with 14. Gwynne set up 59 assists for the Oberlin attack, while
Julia Hall set a career-high of 10 assists. The defense was led by
Hadley Horne,
Iyanna Lewis, Sweet, and Widran who each contributed a pair of block assists.
