Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin College football team will embark on its first road trip of the season as they travel to league rival Kenyon College on Saturday for a high noon kickoff against the Lords.

One of the longest running rivalries, the Yeomen first clashed with the Lords in 1892 … Oberlin leads the all-time series 44-40-6 and has won four out of its last six battles against Kenyon … Oberlin's 28-24 conquest on September 24, 2015 was the team's first-ever victory at Bailey Field … The Yeomen have left Gambier with a win in each of their last three trips to McBride Field, which includes a 35-28 victory in their last trip in 2018.
 
Scouting the Lords …
Like the Yeomen, the Lords are entering Saturday's showdown off a pair of lopsided losses, which includes last week's 44-0 shutout to DePauw … The Lords are average 12.7 points per game, which one higher than the Yeomen, who ranked last in the NCAC in the category at 11.7 ppg … However Oberlin averages 298.7 yards per game while Kenyon checks in at 289.7 ypg … Wide out Andrew Schnarre is fourth in the conference with an average of 72.7 yards per game, while defensive back Mychael Leno is also fourth in the league with 9.3 tackles per contest.
 
Last Time Against the Lords …
Michael Picone's 61-yard interception reception return for a touchdown with 2:49 left to play stunned a large Homecoming crowd as it gave the visiting Kenyon College Lords a 12-7 victory over the Yeomen on October 5, 2019 … Trailing 6-0 into the fourth quarter, the Yeomen would finally breakthrough for their first touchdown of the season when senior quarterback Zach Taylor connected with then-sophomore Brian Colarusso on a 17-yard scoring strike to tie the game … Christian Arnold would convert the PAT to put the Yeomen in front before the heartbreaking finish … The Oberlin defense held the Lords to negative 40 rushing yards and registered five sacks in the setback.
 
Not One, Not Two, But Three …
Junior defensive end Ethan Boufford has had a sack in each of the first three games for the Yeomen, which currently ranks fourth in the NCAC … The Garfield Heights, Ohio, native also leads the team and ranks fourth in the league with 3.5 tackles for loss.
 
Passing it Around …
A total of 11 different receivers have caught a pass for the Yeomen so far this year … Rookie Maurice Wickware leads the team with 13 catches for 110 yards, while sophomore Jack Diskin has been the top gainer with 138 yards on seven catches for an average of 19.2 yards per reception … All five Yeomen touchdowns this year have also come through the air.
 
Playing Keep Away …
The Yeomen lead the NCAC in time of possession with 33 minutes per game due in large part to their ability to move the sticks as Oberlin ranks second in the conference with 62 total first downs for an average 20.7 per game … Oberlin has also gone for a league-high 13 4^th-down tries and has converted seven of them to extend drives.  
 
Penalty Problems …
The Yeomen have been shooting themselves in the foot with a league-high 11.3 penalties per game for average of 98.7 free yards granted per contest … In comparison, the second-worst total in the league is Wabash College who is committing 8.7 miscues a game for 79.7 yards.
 
Long Road Ahead …
Saturday's game will be the first away from the Austin E. Knowlton Athletics Complex in 747 days for the Yeomen … Oberlin's last road tilt was a 34-0 loss at DePauw on November 9, 2019 … Other than their 35-28 road win at Kenyon on September 8, 2018, Oberlin's last victory away from home was on November 3, 2018 when they escaped out of Hiram with a 47-44 double overtime victory, marking their lone two wins away from home in their last 20 tries.
