Oberlin, OH- The Oberlin volleyball team opened North Coast Athletic Conference action at home on Thursday night against the Kenyon Ladies. In a dominate 3-1 (25-21, 16-25, 25-20, 25-14) performance, Oberlin wins their first conference matchup to move to 1-0 in the NCAC and 7-4 overall. This is the first time in six years the Yeowomen have taken victory in their conference opener, the last time coming in a 3-1 rout of Kenyon in 2015.

The Yeowomen got off to a hot start in the opening set, as Andréa Jones spiked the ball for a kill to get the match started. Followed by a kill from
Taylor Gwynne, the Obies kept their momentum going during a back-and-forth first set. Down midway through, a kill from
Natasha Radic started Oberlin on six-point run to climb back into the game and win the match 25-21.
The second set proved to be a different story, as the Ladies took an early lead and never looked back. Kenyon controlled nearly the entirety of the second set, winning 25-16 and evening the score at 1-1. The third set was an impressive performance from the Obies as they scored a slew of points in a 14-3 run midway through. Radic led the way with three kills, aided by Gwynne with seven assists and a kill of her own. Although the Ladies battled back for a 25-20 final, the Yeowomen headed into the fourth set with a 2-1 lead.

The momentum stayed on the side of the Crimson and Gold as they tallied three-straight kills early in the fourth set from Gwynne,
Lauren Fitts, and
Natalie Dufour. The home team found themselves up by ten before
Julia Hall served an ace to end the match 3-1 with a 25-14 win in the final set.

Jones led the attack with 15 kills and four aces, followed by Lewis with eight kills and three block assists. Gywnne led in the assist category with 41, chipping in six kills and seven digs. Fitts also added in a quartet of aces, a season-high for the senior.

Oberlin takes a short break from NCAC play as they travel Pennsylvania for a pair of matched in Penn State- Behrend and University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg. The Yeowomen take on the Lions at 2pm, followed by a match with the Bobcats at 4pm.
