Second Half Goals Put Westminster over Oberlin

Oberlin, OH- After a scoreless first half, the Yeomen soccer team gave up a pair of goals in the final 35 minutes, consequently falling to the Westminster Titans. The 2-0 loss is the fourth in a row for Oberlin, as the team sits on a 2-5-1 record and looks to bounce back with the start of conference action next week.

For the first ten minutes of the match, the Titans were in complete control of the ball. Parker Whitcomb dove for a pair of early shots to keep Westminster off the scoreboard. At the 13' and 17' marks, Ryan Kim and Zach Moskowitz each recorded a pair of shots that sailed wide of the net. The Yeomen defense stepped up as the Titans battled back shot-fot-shot. Both Ethan Hardyk and Alex Caceres blocked shots for Oberlin as both teams sat scoreless. Oberlin's best scoring opportunity came at the 37' as Harrison Tramposch sent a shot towards cage that was stopped by the Titan keeper. Another pair of saves from Whitcomb sent the teams into the second half tied at 0-0.

The Titans were the first to get on the board in the second half, after a breakaway move downfield got past the home backline. The Yeomen looked to find the equalizer but unable to convert a slew of shots kept Westminster on top. As the game began to come to a close, the Titans scored an insurance goal to get the 2-0 win over Oberlin.

The Yeomen take the field again later this week to open NCAC play against DePauw on Saturday, September 25. The match is set to begin at 12pm with live stream available here and live stats available here.
