Oberlin, OH- The Oberlin volleyball team took on both John Carroll and North Park at home on Saturday as part of a tri-match round robin. The Yeowomen dominated in their first contest against the Blue Streaks by a score of 3-0 (27-25, 25-18, 25-19), then dropped their second match against the Vikings 3-1 (25-22, 26-24, 23-25, 25-23). The Split moves Oberlin to 6-4 on the year ahead of the start of NCAC competition.

The first set for the Yeowomen was close as both teams swapped points before the Crimson and Gold managed to get ahead in extra time. A strong offensive performance from the likes of each
Natalie Dufour,
Natasha Radic, and Andréa Jones as the teammates accounted for four kills apiece to lead the 27-25 charge. In the following set, the Yeowomen kept pace as they stayed ahead of JCU for the entirety of the set. With a 25-18 victory and needing just one more set to close the match, Oberlin got off to a similar start in the third set. Four consecutive blocks from the Yeowomen stunned the Blue Streaks as the Crimson and Gold continued to control the match. The blocks assists were led by Dufour (3) and aided by both Jones and
Iyanna Lewis, with Lewis accounting for one on her own.
Taylor Gwynne played a major role in the sweep, tallying 32 assists on top of eight digs. Routing the Blue Streaks in three straight sets, the Yeowomen earned their sixth-straight win of the season before taking on the Vikings.

Ready to extract revenge on Philips Gymnasium, North Park came out strong in the first set. After losing their neutral-site match against John Carroll, the Vikings took the opening set against the Yeowomen 25-22. The Obies came out strong in the following set, coming back from an early deficit and to tie the set at 10-10. A battle for every kill, the competition went into extra-points before North Park came up victorious 26-24. Down 2-0 in the match, Oberlin looked to find any kind of momentum to slow down the Vikings and came up with a late set rally to win the third set. Headed into the fourth set with momentum, both teams went point-for-point as it came down to the wire as it had in earlier sets. This time, Oberlin came up on the wrong side of a 25-23 score. Oberlin dropped the match against North Park 3-1. The Yeowomen were led by both Jones with 20 kills, and Gwynne with 36 assists. Radic tallied a career-high 14 kills.
