Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin College track and field team competed outdoors for the first time in nearly two full years as it welcomed the Allegheny College Gators to Bob Kahn Track & Field Complex on Saturday.

While the meet was not team scored, it didn't prevent the Yeomen and Yeowomen from turning in many strong performances, which included a record-tying run from senior Adriano Atallah. In the 100-meter dash he matched Heisman Club Hall of Famer George Smith's time from 1987 of 10.84, ranking him 13th in the nation. Atallah nearly broke Smith's record in the 200-meter dash (21.76) as he posted a winning time of 21.79 to move into fifth in the country.

Junior Malaika Djungu-Sungu won the triple jump with a mark of 36-02.25 (11.03m) while classmate Aesha Mokashi nearly missed a personal record by clearing 34-05.00 (10.49m) to place second.

The Yeowomen claimed the top three spots in the long jump with Djungu-Sungu besting the seven-person field with a personal-best mark of 17-01.25 (5.21m), which ranks her inside the top 35 in the nation. Junior Clare Tiedemann was second at 16-05.75 (5.02m), while Mokashi hit a person-best with a mark of 16-05.25 (5.01m) to place third. Tiedemann later returned to record a personal-best time of 27.48 to win the 200-meter dash.

It was a 1-2-3 Oberlin finish in the high jump as first-year Hayden Hill won the event by clearing 5-03.00 (1.60m), which is tied for 17th in the country. Sophomore Aislinn Cannistraro posted a mark of 5-00.25 (1.53m), while rookie Aimee Watts (4-10.25 / 1.48m) checked in third.

In the men's long jump, it was junior Tim Martin who turned in a personal-best performance to win the event with a mark of 19-11.04 (6.08m), while senior Cameron MacIntyre was close behind with a career-best coverage of 19-04.00 (5.89m) to take second place.

The running events got underway with junior Anna Scott setting a new PR by four seconds in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as they completed the course in 12:41.31.

Sunniva Sheffield was second in the 3,000-meter run in 11:52.51, while junior classmate Shanthini Ode was third with a timestamp of 11:56.54.

Oberlin will be back in action next Saturday at home against Earlham College.
