Oberlin, Ohio – In their third meet of the shortened season, Oberlin College track and field team took on Case Western Reserve in a head-to-head meet.
Although none of their meets this year will be team scored, the Yeomen and Yeowomen still had impressive showings for their efforts on Kahn Track and Shults Field. On the women's side of the field, throwers Abby Cannon and Victoria Blair excelled by hitting new season-bests and rising in the ranks of the North Coast Athletic Conference. Blair took first in the shot put event, throwing a season-high 37-06.75 (11.45m) and earning the fifth-best distance in the conference. In the discus throw, Cannon took second with a personal-best throw of 121-01 (36.90m) which puts her third in the NCAC. Blair also placed in the discus with a heave of 120-08 (36.78m) to move into fourth in the conference behind Cannon.
In other field events, Cannon took first in the hammer throw with a PR of 142-07 (43.45m), while Aislinn Cannistraro won the high jump event with a height of 5-01.25(1.56m). Leading the conference in the triple jump event, juniors Malaika Djungu-Sungu and Kofi Asare won today with distances of 36-05.75 (11.12m) and 43-10.00 (13.36m), respectively. Capping off a successful day in the field for the Yeowomen, Jada Kennerly set a new PR in the women's long jump event with the day's top jump of 15-11.50 (4.86m).
In the running events, Oberlin continued to shine as senior sensation Adriano Atallah took gold in both individual events; the 100m dash and the 200m dash. Already holding the top-times in the conference for both events, Atallah secured with finishes that would earn second-best at 10.95 in the 100m and 22.25 in the 200m. Atallah's 100m counterpart on the women's side, Natalie Soord, won her event with a time of 13.89 while Nina Hoyt finished third with a time of 14.20. Although the only Oberlin entry in the women's 100m hurdle, Clare Tiedmann took first-place with a time of 16.07 which is the fourth-best time in the conference this season.
Lucia Rathbun and Sam Mader set new season-bests in the 800m runs, while Rathbun finished in first with a time of 2:30.91 and Mader finished third at 2:02.23. In the 400m dash, Malachi Clemons took second with a time of 52.82 just after Cameron MacIntyre took first in the 110m hurdles with a time of 16.44.
