Track and Field Post Successful Outing Against Earlham

RESULTS

Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin College track and field team competed against Earlham on a sunny Saturday afternoon.

Although not team scored, the Yeomen and Yeowomen set several new personal best times, highlighted by Abby Cannon's victory in the women' hammer throw and Adriano Attalah getting it done in the men's 400m dash.

In the women's triple jump, Oberlin went 1-2-3 led by Malaika Djungu-Sungu, who nearly hit her season best with a jump of 37-04.50 (11.39m), while junior Kofi Asare took gold in the men's triple jump with a length of 44-08.75 (13.63m). Maggie Allen took first in the women's javelin throw marking 91-02 (27.80m). Oberlin won both the men's and women's the long jump events, as Cameron MacIntyre jumped 17-08.25 (5.39m) and Tiedemann who hit a new personal best at 16-08.50 (5.09m).

The Yeowomen swept the high jump event as Aislinn Cannistraro hit 5-03.00 (1.60m) to beat teammates Hayden Hill and Aimee Watts. Freshman Abby Cannon won the hammer throw and set a new PR for herself of 42.22m while teammate Victoria Blair followed second at 39.59m. Cannon set another best for herself in the shot put event with a through of 37-00.50 (11.29m).

On Kuhn Track, Anna Scott and Maeve Gualtieri-Reed got the Yeowomen started with a first and second place finish in the 1,500-meter race with times of 5:03.49 and 5:11.69, respectively. Atallah bested his previous time in the 400-meter dash by .32 with a new time of 49.25 to take first place. In the men's 100m dash, Carson Franks and Tim Martin recorded new personal-best times as they finished third and fourth for the Yeomen.

It was a clean sweep in the men's 800-meter run as senior Sam Mader took the victory with a time of 2:04.11. Capping off the meet were the 4x400 meter relay events in which Oberlin swept the podium with the men's 'A' team running 3:47.33 and the women's 'A' team running 4:29.12.

Oberlin track and field will be back in action again next Saturday, April 17 as they host Case Western with live coverage beginning at 2pm.
