DePauw, IN- The Oberlin men's basketball team travelled to DePauw on over the weekend to take on the Tigers in a road matchup. Down at the half, the Yeomen were unable to make a comeback and fell short 63-52 to DePauw. The road loss gives Oberlin an overall record of 4-5 and 2-2 in the NCAC.
The game got off to a slow start as each team went point-for-point over the opening five minutes. Tied at 8-8, the Tigers broke into the double-digit threshold off a three-pointer just before
Wolf Moser and
Darien Knowles made back-to-back layups overtaking the lead. As DePauw retook the lead over the next five minutes, the Yeomen battled back and
Dorde Otasevic nailed a shot from behind the arc to give Oberlin a one-point advantage at the 6:58 mark. With another pair of three-pointers, Moser opened an even larger lead for the visiting squad. In the final minutes of the half, the Tigers dominated and held the Yeomen scoreless to take a 32-30 advantage at halftime.
In the opening seconds of the second half,
Dimitrije Radusinovic got the Yeomen back on top with a field goald from behind the arc. Responding with a three of their own, the Tigers matched the Yeomen to tie the score at 37-37. DePawu rallied for an 13-3 run until Knowles hit a three to end the damage with 9:16 remaining in the game. A trio of layups brought Oberlin within three of the Tigers, but they were unable to convert anymore shots, succumbing to DePauw 63-52.
In the loss, three Yeomen scored in double digits, led by Otasevic with 14 points, seven rebounds, and four blocks. Radusinovic and Moser scored 12 and ten points each, respectively.
The Yeomen hit the court again, this time at home, to host Defiance College on Sunday, December 19. The game will begin at 2pm with the live stream available
