Oberlin Track & Field Concludes 2021 at Andres Family Alumni Open

Tiffin, Ohio – The Oberlin College track and field teams traveled to Tiffin University for their final meet of the 2021 calendar year, participating in the Andres Family Alumni Open.

In the first scored running event of the night, Chilly Wallace clocked in at 9.52 in the 60-meter hurdles to place third overall and post the fourth-fastest time in the NCAC this season.
 
Sophomore Lucy Curtis impressed in her first collegiate 400, placing second in 1:04.88, putting her in a tie for fifth in the NCAC. Katy Wearing was fourth in 1:07.23 while Myranda Montoye was one spot back in 1:07.34.
 
Senior Clare Tiedemann picked up the Yeowomen's first win of the night, posting a personal-best time of 27.22 in the 200-meters, which ranks second in the NCAC this season.
 
Seven of the eight entries in the women's 3,000 meters were Yeowomen with Phoebe von Conta leading the contingency in 10:43.19, marking the best time in the league by nearly seven seconds while ranking 20th nationally. Classmate Anna Scott was second in 11:19.18.
 
In the field, senior Malaika Djungu-Sungu recorded a career-best mark of 16-11.25 (5.16m) in the long jump to place second overall and move into the top spot in the NCAC.
 
Senior Sarah Voit jumped into second in the nation in the pole vault, clearing 12-05.25 (3.79m) to place second overall in the 10-person field.
 
In the weight throw, sophomore Abby Cannon impressed with a third-place showing and career-best toss of 53-04.25 (16.26m). Iyanna Lewis was one spot back at 49-04.25 (15.04) .
 
In the men's 800-meters, first-year Jonah Barber competed the journey in 2:02.65 to place second overall while fellow rookie Ezra Taub continued his strong start to the season with a time of 2:02.67.
 
Senior Zac Ntia posted a season-best heave of 42-06.25 (12.96m) in the shot put to improve upon his fifth-best conference mark. The Wooster, Ohio, native followed with a fifth-place effort in the weight throw with a toss of 52-09.25 (16.08m) – matching his same mark from last weekend to remain second in the NCAC.
 
The Yeomen and Yeowomen will now rest up for the holidays before returning to action at SPIRE Collegiate Season Opener in Geneva, Ohio on January 15.
