Oberlin Basketball Falls in Physical NCAC Opener

Oberlin, OH – The Oberlin men's basketball team's struggles continued as they hosted Wooster for their conference opener Tuesday night. A physical matchup, the Fighting Scots reigned victorious over the Yeomen for a final score of 62-51. With their third-straight loss, Oberlin falls to 2-3 on the season and 0-1 in NCAC action.

The Yeomen got off to a hot start in the opening minutes of the game, as Dorde Otasevic set the pace with four-straight points in the early goings. Darien Knowles followed that up with the game's first three-pointer to put Oberlin ahead 7-2. Wolf Moser hit back-to-back jumpers, but the Wooster squad crept their way back into the fight as they cut the home team's lead to one. Not to be outdone, Andrew Gannon found Otasevic behind the arch to regain the four-point lead. Midway through the half, the Fighting Scots took their first lead of the night on a three-pointer to sit at 18-17. Over the next several minutes, Wooster went on a 10-2 run before Moser hit his first three-pointer to slow the Black and Gold. The senior guard stuck again to bring the score to 36-30 as the clock expired.

Down just a pair of possessions, Knowles made it one with a three-pointer just 31 seconds into the second half. Unfortunately for the Yeomen, the scoring stopped there as the Fighting Scots responded with a trio of buckets to extend their lead to 46-35. With a double-digit lead, Wooster slowed the pace of the game and doubled down on defense to hold the Yeomen scoreless until Moser hit another three to end the drought. With ten minutes remaining, Dimitrije Radusinovic came alive to sink back-to-back buckets as Oberlin behind the lead. The Crimson and Gold were unable to create any offense until Otasevic scored on a fast break created by a steal from Moser. As the clock hit one minute, Radusinovic hit another three but the Yeomen were unable to overcome the deficit and fell to the Fighting Scots 62-51.

The Yeomen play at home again in their next matchup, this time a non-conference date with Kalamazoo on Thursday, December 3. Tip-off is set for 6pm with the live stream available here and live stats available here.
