Oberlin, OH- The Oberlin volleyball team welcomed home fans and alumni for a match against DePauw on Homecoming Weekend. In a game of runs, the Yeowomen took down the Tigers 3-1 (25-21, 25-18, 22-25, 25-21) to secure their first program victory over the reigning NCAC Tournament Champions. The Yeowomen move to an even 10-9 overall and 2-4Â in conference play.
The Oberlin squad struggled in the early points of the first set but a long run by led by
Natalie Dufour gave them much needed momentum. Ahead of the Tigers 7-3, the Yeowomen continued their dominate play as
Myriahlea DeHaro,
Taylor Gwynne, and
Natasha Radic all accounted for kills in the following points.
Lauren Sands served three-straight aces for Oberlin as the Yeowomen won the first set 25-21. DePauw looked to even the score in the second set, but Oberlin kept pace with the Tigers, swapping points until they found themselves down 9-6. Inset a 13-2 run from the Crimson and Gold, it was a full team effort to take victory in the second set.

Needing a win to stay alive in the match, DePauw put together a strong third set, battling for each point with the Yeowomen. Finally getting ahead on a short run of four points, the Tigers maintained their lead for a 25-22 victory. Oberlin was unable to stop DePauw in the early goings and found themselves down by five. A late effort by
Cami Sweet got the Yeowomen back on their feet and in control of the lead. The Tigers refused to back down but a pair of kills from Andréa Jones closed the final set and secured the 3-1 victory.
