Wooster, OH- The Oberlin volleyball team traveled south to take on the Wooster Fighting Scots on Wednesday night. The Yeowomen fought hard but were unable to overcome the Fighting Scots and dropped the game 3-1 (14-25, 21-25, 25-21, 19-25). The Yeowomen move to an even 9-9 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
Â
The Yeowomen won the first point or the night off a Wooster error, which came few and far between. Kills from
Natasha Radic, Andréa Jones, and
Iyanna Lewis kept Oberlin in the set, but once the Fighting Scots got ahead, they stayed ahead for a 25-14 victory. The Yeowomen played a closer game in the second set until Wooster went on an 8-2 run to secure a lead. Led by a pair of kills from
Natalie Dufour and Lewis, Oberlin climbed their way back in the game to come within three of Wooster. Eventually overcome by the Fighting Scots attack, the Yeowomen lost the second set 25-21.
Â
Looking to make a comeback in the third set, the Yeowomen recorded five kills and a block by Dufour in their first six points. Keeping that pace,
Taylor Gwynne and
Myriahlea DeHaro notched service aces as Oberlin took the lead. Jones followed the aces with three kills before
Cami Sweet, Gwynne, and Radic earned block assists to close the set with a 25-21 victory.
Â
The Yeowomen looked to even the match but Wooster came back in the fourth set with vengeance. Tied at 6-6, the Fighting Scots went on a six-point run, including four kills and a service ace, to gain a lead over Oberlin. Once ahead, Wooster maintained their lead and finished off Oberlin, 25-19.
