Oberlin, OH – Having just played the Earlham College Quakers eight days ago and falling 6-0, the Oberlin College field hockey team put forth a stronger performance this time around on Sunday afternoon but still finished on the wrong end of a 1-0 decision.
The Yeowomen controlled possession for the majority of the opening quarter as the two teams were feeling each other out. As the Quakers began to take control, four first-half saves from
Mary Post ensured the game would remain scoreless at the intermission.
The lone tally of the contest came courtesy of Denise Bergdolt in the 39th minute and the Quakers would keep Oberlin without a shot attempt for the second time this season to preserve the win.
Post finished with seven saves over three quarters of action before giving way to
Julia Vincent in the fourth as she added three more denials.
Jackie Oh also added a defensive save in the setback.
The Quakers put 12 of their 19 shots on goal and ended with a 16-0 advantage in penalty corners.
Earlham improved to 11-1 overall and 2-0 in league play. Oberlin dropped back to 0-11 and 0-3 in NCAC action.
The Yeowomen continue their five-game homestand on Friday night as they entertain the Tigers of Wittenberg at 6 p.m. to kickoff Homecoming.
